Langdon White

Boston University
Clinical Assistant Professor
Greater Boston Area
Langdon White is a Clinical Assistant Professor and the Spark! Technical Director at Boston University. In these roles, he helps to provide industry-affiliated experiential learning to students and teaches with the goal of making computing and data sciences more accessible. White joined BU after nine years at Red Hat, Inc., where he re-architected Fedora Linux for flexibility in a containerized world and worked with 3rd party developers to leverage Linux better. Prior to Red Hat he worked in various engineering & executive leadership roles for a variety of companies from startups to Fortune 50. The democratization and infiltration of software into all aspects of our personal and professional lives has provided enormous benefits but their distribution has been inequitable. To improve that distribution, we need more perspectives in software creation. Experimenting with new pedagogical techniques will increase the accessibility of roles in the software industry to a more diverse population.
